Abstract

Recently, the number of Thai adolescent drug addicts has dramatically increased. Most of the cases in adolescent drug abuse are linked to the respective family. It has been widely accepted that effective communication within a family helps reduce drug problems. This article describes a parental program that improves the intra-familial communication ability of drug rehabilitation youths’ parents. A non-formal education activity model that integrates Bohm’s dialogue and Nonviolent Communication is created in order to support family relationships. The four stages of the model are described. The paper concludes with nine instruments produced for measuring effectiveness of the family communication model by the parents and involved experts.
